Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in Political Science and History 2006
I am originally from Atlanta, GA and have been teaching for a little over ten years(since 2006). My path to personal education and becoming a teacher was not a traditional one in that, after dropping out of high school at seventeen years old, I came to Christ and was called to resume and complete my studies at the age of twenty. I obtained my GED and moved on to earn a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and History from Emory University. Having been impacted so greatly by the transformative power of education and Christ's grace, I was led to share both in the classroom with other young adults.
I began my teaching career in a small Christian private school in East Atlanta, teaching upper elementary and middle school students. I also served as the Program Coordinator and Lead Teacher of the middle school there and was blessed with the opportunity to take several students on a ecological and cultural adventure in Costa Rica for 9 days. From there, I continued to teach and do school administration in the Atlanta area by serving as a middle school social studies teacher and admissions coordinator at the only Quaker-based education program in the state of Georgia. Yet my most rewarding experience as a teacher came in 2014, when I was blessed with the opportunity to teach and lead the English humanities program at an amazing community private school in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for three years. Living abroad in Latin America left an indelible impact on my life, career, and faith that has further ignited my enthusiasm and given me dynamic tools to reach more young people with creative lessons, culturally-relevant insights, and Christ-centered passion.
Now, in 2017, with this new adventure and chapter in my career, I am excited to join the community of Lake Norman Christian School and the Town of Davidson area in making a mark for Christ that can never be erased and doing our best to serve the mission of educating and enlightening its young hearts and minds.
