Field Trips at LKNC are always fun for students. Their purpose is almost always to enhance and enrich learning through hands-on, experiencial learning. Occasionally students are rewarded for academic excellence or for achieving a stated goal. These trips are considered academic because students had to achieve academic success in order to earn the trip. A few examples of recent academic field trips are the following: Elementary School went to Raleigh to tour the capital building among others; Middle School students went to King's Mountain, a historic site in South Carolina; High School students went to the Creation Museum in Ohio and toured colleges; Elementary School students went on nature walks around Davidson to find the plants and animals they had studied; Middle and High School students went to a Women in Sports Day at Davidson College to learn about nutrition, physical fitness, and watch a women's basketball game; and Middle School students went to Discovery Place and the Imaginon Library in Charlotte. High school students traveled to New York City.
